Sec. 20-5.
Consolidation of townships within city; petition and referendum.
When the territory of any city in a county under township organization is
composed of 5 or more congressional townships or fractional parts of
congressional townships and the legal voters of the city want to organize the
territory into one township, upon a petition of at least one-tenth of the legal
voters of the city (to be ascertained by the votes cast at the last preceding
presidential election), the county board of the county shall order submitted to
the voters of the city, in accordance with the general election law, at the
next general election, the question of consolidation of the territory included
in the city into one township. The board shall certify the proposition
to the proper election officials, who shall submit the proposition at the
general election in accordance with the general election law. The proposition
shall be in substantially the following form:

Sec. 20-10.
Election results.
(a) The county clerk shall enter an abstract of the returns of the election
held under Section 20-5, made out and certified as in an election for county
officers, and shall record the abstract at length upon the records of the
county.
(b) If a majority of the votes are in favor of consolidating all of the
townships and fractional parts of townships in the city into one organized
township, then at the next regular election for township officers there shall
be elected one set of township officers for the territory in the city.

Sec. 20-15.
Assessor.
For purposes of the election or appointment of a
township or multi-township assessor, a township organized under this Article is
subject to Sections 2-5 through 2-30 and Sections 2-70 and 9-30 of the
Property Tax Code.
