ยง  253. Use of toll bridge by public service corporations; conditions;
  powers of town board. After a bridge shall  be  acquired  by  the  state
  under  the provisions of this article, the same shall not be used by any
  railroad, telephone, gas, electric light, heat or power company  or  any
  other public service corporation, for any purpose except upon such terms
  and  the payment of such rental as shall be determined by the town board
  of the town or towns and the common council of the city or cities within
  which it is situated. The  money  received  therefor  shall  be  divided
  equally between the localities. The provisions of this section, however,
  shall not affect any existing contract for the use of such bridge by any
  such  corporation, except that the compensation provided for such use in
  such existing contract  shall  be  paid  to  the  localities  as  herein
  provided.
