Sec. 531.992. OMBUDSMAN FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY AND PROTECTIVE SERVICES. (a) The governor shall appoint an ombudsman for the Department of Family and Protective Services to serve at the will of the governor.
(b) The ombudsman is administratively attached to the office of the ombudsman for the commission.
(c) Subject to the appropriation of money for that purpose, the ombudsman may employ staff to assist the ombudsman in performing the ombudsman's duties under this subchapter.
(d) The ombudsman may not use the name or any logo of the department on any forms or other materials produced and distributed by the ombudsman.
Amendments to this section made by Acts 2017, 85th Leg., R.S., Ch. 906 (S.B. 213), take effect on September 1, 2017, but only if a specific appropriation is provided as described by Acts 2017, 85th Leg., R.S., Ch. 906 (S.B. 213), Sec. 12, which states: This Act takes effect only if a specific appropriation for the implementation of the Act is provided in a general appropriations act of the 85th Legislature.
