Article 6 - District Courts
Section 34-6-6 - Judges; third judicial district.

There shall be nine district judges in the third judicial district.

The 2020 amendment, effective May 20, 2020, created an additional judgeship in the third judicial district court, and after "There shall be", deleted "eight" and added "nine".
Temporary provisions. — Laws 2020, ch. 40, § 10 provided that the additional district judgeships provided for in Laws 2020, ch. 40 shall be filled by appointment by the governor pursuant to Article 6, Section 36 of the constitution of New Mexico.
The 2006 amendment, effective July 1, 2006, increased the number of judges from seven to eight.
The 2003 amendment, effective June 20, 2003, increased the number of district judges from six to seven.
The 1995 amendment, effective January 1, 1996, increased the judges from five to six and provided the judge will be appointed for the purpose of handling domestic relations cases.
The 1992 amendment, effective March 9, 1992, substituted "five" for "four".
