Sec. 6. (a) Members shall be appointed to the cabinet for two (2) year terms. The terms must be staggered so that the terms of half of the members expire each year. The governor must rotate appointments described in section 5(a)(9) and 5(a)(10) of this chapter so that the same research university, comprehensive university, or independent college is not represented on the cabinet for two (2) consecutive terms.
(b) For members appointed by the governor, the governor shall promptly make an appointment to fill any vacancy on the cabinet, but only for the duration of the unexpired term.
