Section 45-52A-35.04 - Municipal Utilities Board - Election of Members; Term of Office.

The members of the board shall serve staggered terms of nine years each. Each term shall begin on July 1, following the expiration of the term of the member whose term has expired and shall expire on June 30 of the year concluding the nine-year term. At a meeting of the governing body of the City of Decatur in March in each year that the term of a member of the board expires on June 30 next following, the governing body shall elect the successor of the member of the board whose term expires on June 30 next following and the person so elected shall become a member of the board on July 1 next following his or her election and shall hold the position for a period of nine years and until his or her successor is elected and qualified. A member of the board may succeed himself or herself if the governing body desires to reelect him or her. Whenever a vacancy occurs in the board by resignation, death, or some other cause, the governing body shall immediately fill the vacancy electing another person to the board, who shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term of the member he or she succeeds. The terms of the present members of the board shall expire as follows: William E. Sexton’s term shall expire on June 30, 1984; Haskell J. Ross' term shall expire on June 30, 1987, and Wilson Morgan's term shall expire on June 30, 1990.
