9-12-18. Power to maintain abandoned cemetery--Cemetery board--Funds.
The governing body of any municipality may regulate and maintain in a reasonable manner any abandoned cemetery, which regulation and maintenance may include, but need not be limited to, the mowing and cutting of weeds and grass, the repairing of fences and corrective measures relative to grave markers. The governing body may appoint a cemetery board of directors to manage such abandoned cemeteries. The cemetery board shall have the same powers as nonprofit corporations as provided in ยง47-22-55 and shall submit annual reports to the governing body on its activities. Funds necessary to carry out the provisions of this section may be appropriated from the municipal general fund.
