§ 5-30-8. Certification to practice physiotherapy.
(a) Every person desiring to practice physiotherapy in addition to chiropractic medicine and who completed a course of four (4) years, of eight (8) months each, in some school of chiropractic medicine approved by the division of professional regulation of the department of health; completed a course of three (3) years, of nine (9) months each, at some school of chiropractic medicine approved by the division and an additional year, of at least six (6) months, in physiotherapy and all branches of that field, at that school; or has served as an intern for six (6) months in any year at an institution approved by the division, and satisfies the division that he or she is qualified, may take an examination before the state board of chiropractic examiners to determine his or her qualification to practice physiotherapy in addition to chiropractic medicine.
(b) Every applicant for that examination shall pay a fee for the examination to the division of professional regulation of the department of health, provided that if the examination is taken at the same time as the examination to determine the applicant’s fitness to practice chiropractic medicine, only one fee as set forth in § 23-1-54 is charged. Every candidate who passes that examination shall be recommended by the division of professional regulation of the department of health to the director of the department of health to receive a certificate of qualification to practice physiotherapy.
