ยง 342. Duties of court officers, attendants and messengers of courts
in Kings, Queens, Richmond, Nassau and Suffolk counties. Each of the
persons appointed a court officer, attendant or messenger of the supreme
court or county court of Kings, Queens or Richmond counties as
prescribed in sections one hundred and sixty-eight and two hundred one
of this chapter, must attend, from day to day, the terms and sittings,
within his county, of the court to which he is assigned, to preserve
order, and perform whatever services may be required of him, by the
judge presiding thereat. The attendant or messenger of the supreme court
in Nassau and Suffolk counties, respectively, appointed as prescribed by
section one hundred and sixty-eight of this chapter must attend, from
day to day, the terms and sittings of the said court to which he is
assigned by the justice or justices by whom he was appointed; to
preserve order and perform whatever services may be required of him by
the judge presiding thereat; and shall attend at the chambers provided
for the justices of said court in said county and perform such other
duties thereat, in addition to his duties as court attendant, as may be
prescribed by the justice or justices sitting therein.
