315 - School District Names.

ยง 315. School district names. Each school district, other than a city
school district, shall, in accordance with the commissioner's
regulations, adopt a simplified name as the legal name of the district.
Such name shall be submitted to the commissioner for prior approval and
when such name shall be adopted it shall be filed with the commissioner.
The name of a central school district established or reorganized by an
order of the commissioner pursuant to section eighteen hundred one of
this chapter may be changed by the board of education of such district,
with the prior approval of the commissioner, upon a written request by
the board of education filed with the commissioner not later than
fourteen days prior to the date of the establishment or reorganization
of the district and in accordance with the regulations of the
commissioner. The education department shall issue, on request,
certificates certifying the name of the district and the names of the
towns and counties in which the territory of the district is located, or
in the case of school districts other than city school districts, which
are wholly or partly located within a city, the names of the city, towns
and counties in which the territory of the district is located.
