Article 2 - State Engineer
Section 72-2-2 - Assistants; salary.

The state engineer may employ assistants and purchase materials and supplies for the proper conduct and maintenance of his office in pursuance of appropriations as made from time to time for such purposes. The salaries and expenses of the office of the state engineer shall be paid at the same time and in the same manner as those of other officers of the state.

Compiler's notes. — The "state engineer" heads a division of the natural resources department, namely, the water resources division. See 72-2-1 NMSA 1978.
Quasi-judicial duties not delegable. — State engineer is authorized to employ assistants for the proper conduct and maintenance of his office and department; however, he may not delegate his quasi-judicial authority and duties to anyone else. 1953 Op. Att'y Gen. No. 53-5786.
