This act [27-8-1 to 27-8-9 NMSA 1978] may be cited as the "Community Action Act".

Legislator contracting with agency must ascertain how agency organized. — A legislator contracting with a community action agency will have to ascertain how the agency is organized to determine whether the prohibitions of N.M. Const., art. IV, § 28 will apply. If it is a county, county agency or a private agency, the contract will not be covered by the provision, but if it is a municipality or municipal agency, the contract will be prohibited if it was authorized by law during the legislator's term. 1989 Op.
