In case of a vacancy in the office of the county assessor, or failure of any county assessor to qualify as required in this chapter, the board of county commissioners, within 45 days after the vacancy or failure to qualify occurs, shall appoint a person pursuant to NRS 245.170 to fill the vacancy. The person appointed shall give bond and take the oath of office prescribed by law that is required of county assessors elected by the people.
