Section 750.159p - Verified Claim Stating Interest in Property or Proceeds.

Sec. 159p.
(1) At any time within 28 days after the date of the completion of the publication pursuant to section 159o or within 21 days after receipt of actual notice pursuant to section 159o, a person claiming an interest in property or proceeds subject to forfeiture may file with the prosecuting agency a verified claim stating his or her interest in the property or proceeds.
(2) If no claim is filed within the period specified in subsection (1), the prosecuting agency shall declare the property forfeited and shall dispose of the property according to section 159r.
(3) If a claim is filed within the period specified in subsection (1), the prosecuting agency shall institute a civil in rem forfeiture action within 7 days after the expiration of the period specified in subsection (1).
