§3769-E. Temporary Assistance for Needy Families block grant; increased heating assistance
In fiscal year 2017-18 and annually thereafter, the Department of Health and Human Services shall provide $3,000,000 in funds provided under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families block grant to the Maine State Housing Authority to provide heating assistance for low-income families with children. Funds provided under this section must be used to supplement funds available under the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program administered by the federal Department of Health and Human Services and must be made available to families with children at or below 170% of the federal poverty level that qualify for that program under rules established by the Maine State Housing Authority. The Maine State Housing Authority may retain what the department determines to be a reasonable administrative fee from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families block grant for the cost of administering the heating assistance available under this section.
