As used in this chapter, the term:
(7.1) “Presiding creditable service” means any creditable service earned by a member while serving as the presiding officer of the House of Representatives.
(8.1) “Prior service” shall also include military service which is creditable under Code Section 47-6-70.1.

The 2009 amendment, effective May 11, 2009, substituted “or paid by the member to establish or reestablish credit for service, which amounts are credited to his or her” for “and credited to his” near the middle of paragraph (1).
The 2012 amendment, effective July 1, 2012, deleted former paragraph (10), which read: “ ‘Staff members’ means the Secretary of the Senate, the Clerk of the House of Representatives, and the messenger and doorkeeper for each of the two houses of the General Assembly.”; and redesignated former paragraph (11) as present paragraph (10).
The 2022 amendment, effective July 1, 2022, added paragraph (7.1).
