(a) [ Editor's note: This version of subsection (4)(a) is effective March 1, 2022. ] Any person who discloses confidential records or information in violation of the provisions of this section commits a class 2 misdemeanor and shall be punished as provided in section 18-1.3-501. Any criminal prosecution pursuant to the provisions of this section must be brought within five years from the date the violation occurred.
