A physical therapist may request that the board inactivate or activate the physical therapist's license. The board shall promulgate rules governing the activation and inactivation of licenses. Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, the board's rules may limit the applicability of statutory requirements for maintaining professional liability insurance and continuing professional competence for a licensee whose license is currently inactive. The board need not reactivate an inactive license if the physical therapist has committed any act that would be grounds for disciplinary action under section 12-285-120. A physical therapist whose license is currently inactive shall not practice physical therapy.
