Part 4 - Jury Commission.
Section 45-52-83 - Creation and Composition; Authority, Duties, Functions.

(a) The Jury Commission of Morgan County provided for by Chapter 2 of Title 30, Code of Alabama 1940, as presently constituted is hereby abolished.
(b) Hereafter, the Jury Commission of Morgan County shall be composed of the circuit court judges of the Eighth Judicial Circuit of Alabama who reside in Morgan County, the judge of the County Court of Morgan County, and two qualified electors of the county who are reputed for their fairness, impartiality, integrity, and good judgment, appointed by the Governor. The two appointive members of the jury commission shall hold office for terms to run concurrently with the term of the Governor. They shall be commissioned by the Governor and shall not during their tenure in office hold any other public office by appointment or election or perform any other public duty under the federal, state, county, or municipal government which carries with it any compensation whatsoever.
(c) The ex officio members of the Jury Commission of Morgan County shall not be entitled to any remuneration whatever for the performance of their duties as jury commissioners. The appointed members of the commission shall be entitled to compensation at a rate of fifteen dollars ($15) a day for each day’s service, but not exceeding an annual amount to be determined by the county governing body. The commission is authorized and empowered to employ a clerk to serve under the direction of the commission and to perform the duties incumbent upon such clerk under the general laws of the State of Alabama as prescribed in Section 12-16-37.
(d) The jury commission of Morgan County provided for in this section shall have all the authority, perform all the duties, and perform the same functions as a jury commission provided for under the general laws in Article 2, commencing with Section 12-16-30, of Chapter 16, Title 12.
