Part 1 - Compensation.
Section 45-52-70 - Expense Allowances and Salaries for Chair and Commissioners.

(a)(1) Commencing on August 1, 1995, the Chair of the Morgan County Commission shall receive an annual expense allowance that will make the total compensation for the chair fifty-five thousand dollars ($55,000), pay-able in equal monthly installments from the county general fund.
(2) Commencing on August 1, 1995, each Commissioner of the Morgan County Commission shall receive an annual expense allowance that will make the total compensation for each commissioner forty-five thousand dollars ($45,000), payable in equal monthly installments from the county general fund.
(b) Commencing with the next term of office, the salary of the Chair of the Morgan County Commission shall be fifty-five thousand dollars ($55,000) annually, payable in equal monthly installments from the county general fund and the salary of each Commissioner of the Morgan County Commission shall be forty-five thousand dollars ($45,000) annually, payable in equal monthly installments from the county general fund. The annual salary provided for the chair and each commissioner by this subsection shall be in lieu of any salary or expense allowance heretofore provided by law, except as provided in subsection (c), and shall be the only compensation provided by law.
(c) The Chair and each Commissioner of the Morgan County Commission shall receive an annual expense allowance equal to the same percentage as any annual salary increase which county employees receive after July 27, 1995. This subsection shall become inoperative at the expiration of five years from July 27, 1995. All expense allowances received by the chair and commissioners as provided for in this subsection, at the beginning of the next term of office following the commencement of any expense allowance pursuant to this section, shall convert to salary.
