Article 6 - Coroner.
Section 45-52-60 - Compensation; Participation in Employees' Retirement System.

(a) Commencing on the first day of May, 2008, the Coroner of Morgan County shall receive an additional expense allowance in an amount so that the total compensation and expense allowance of the coroner equals thirty thousand dollars ($30,000) per annum. This expense allowance shall be payable in equal monthly installments from the general fund of the county.
(b) Beginning with the expiration of the term of the incumbent coroner, the annual salary for the coroner shall be thirty thousand dollars ($30,000) per annum, payable in equal monthly installments from the general fund of the county and at that time, subsection (a) shall become null and void.
(c) The Morgan County Commission, from time to time, may increase, by resolution, the salary benefits, expense allowance, and all other compensation of the coroner.
(d) The coroner shall receive the same percentage increases in compensation and expense allowance to which other public officials are entitled to receive pursuant to Chapter 2A of Title 11.
(e) The coroner may participate in the Employees' Retirement System of Alabama to the same extent as county commissioners and other public officials are entitled to participate. The County Commission of Morgan County shall make payments from the county funds on behalf of the coroner to participate in the Employees' Retirement System of Alabama.
