ARTICLE 3 - Commission on Uniform State Laws
Section 10271.

10271. (a) The commission consists of one Member of the Senate, appointed by the Senate Committee on Rules; one Member of the Assembly, appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly; six additional members, appointed by the Governor; the Legislative Counsel; any person, not otherwise a member of the commission, elected as a life member of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws based upon service as a member of the commission; and any person, not otherwise a member of the commission, who served as a member of the commission, other than as an appointee of the Governor, for a period of at least five years.

(b) The Members of the Legislature appointed to the commission shall serve at the pleasure of the appointing power and shall participate in the activities of the commission to the extent that the participation is not incompatible with their positions as Members of the Legislature. For the purposes of this article, the Members of the Legislature shall constitute a joint interim investigating committee on the subject of this article, and shall have the powers and duties imposed upon those committees by the Joint Rules of the Senate and Assembly.
