Before proceeding to the discharge of duties, the county surveyor shall enter into bond, in the sum of two thousand dollars ($2,000), payable to the state of Tennessee, conditioned for the faithful performance of the surveyor's official duties, and shall also take and subscribe an oath faithfully to discharge the duties of the office. The bond shall be prepared in accordance with chapter 19 of this title, approved by the county legislative body, recorded in the office of the county register of deeds and transmitted to the office of the county clerk for safekeeping.
